The SSM/I data in these directories require the additional step of retrieving navigational data. Each Tb and product (CLW, OWS, IWV) pass file has corresponding navigation files.
If you are using the high-resolution (85 GHz) channels in the Tb files, you'll want the accompanying high-resolution navigation ("hn") files. If you are working with the low-resolution channels (19, 22, & 37 GHz) or any of the derived geophysical products, you'll probably want the accompanying low-resolution navigation ("ln") files.
The navigational files can be found at the following locations. These locations are for the F13 nav files, but the F14 and F15 nav files would be in the same locations, substituting the correct "platform" number.
The "hn" files are found in http://moby.itsc.uah.edu/ftpdata/data/ssmi/dmsp-f13/swath/hn/...
The "ln" files are found in http://moby.itsc.uah.edu/ftpdata/data/ssmi/dmsp-f13/swath/ln/...
A compact summary of each day's pass files can be found in /ftpdata/data/ssmi/dmsp-fxx/swath/meta/... http://moby.itsc.uah.edu/ftpdata/data/ssmi/dmsp-f13/swath/meta/
Complete documentation about GHRC's SSM/I Tb data can be reached here: http://microwave.nsstc.nasa.gov:5721/dataset_documents/ssmi_tb_dataset.html
Complete documentation about GHRC's SSM/I products can be reached here: http://microwave.nsstc.nasa.gov:5721/dataset_documents/ssmi_products_dataset.html
If you would like the SSM/I data and navigation files automatically "gathered", you may use the GHRC Data pool interface at http://datapool.nsstc.nasa.gov/. The files will be 'tarred' and optionally gzipped. Subsetting services are also available through the Data pool.
The GHRC Data pool has 2 years of SSM/I, TMI, AMSU-A data on-line. If you need data which are not on-line, please contact GHRC User Services at ghrc@eos.nasa.gov.
